Would you rather Christmas questions: 40 to read out

Updated: 2026-10-24

Would you rather Christmas questions give two options and everyone picks one: would you rather have a real tree or a fake tree? They work as a warm-up because everyone answers at the same time and nobody has to perform. Below you find 40 questions in four lists: funny, for adults, for the office and for kids.

Read them out at the table, let people move to one side of the room or vote with emoji in a video call. Five to ten minutes is enough for a good round.

Three ways to play

  1. Hands up: read the question, everyone raises a hand for option one or stays still for option two.
  2. Sides of the room: left is option one, right is option two. Ask one person per side why.
  3. Video call: everyone answers in the chat with 1 or 2, or with an emoji.

FAQ

What are good would you rather Christmas questions?

Easy choices everyone has an opinion on: real tree or fake tree, mulled wine or hot chocolate, snow or sunshine at Christmas, untangling the lights or wrapping the presents.

How do you play would you rather at a Christmas party?

Read a question and let everyone answer at the same time: hands up, by moving to one side of the room, or with 1 or 2 in the chat. Five to ten minutes is enough.

Are there would you rather Christmas questions for work?

Yes. Questions about the party, the quiz, Secret Santa or the out-of-office reply fit well and stay away from private topics.

Does would you rather work in a video call?

Yes. Everyone types 1 or 2 or an emoji in the chat, and the host reads out a few answers.
